Seasonal opening and winterization done thoroughly, because almost every expensive pool failure in the Okanagan traces back to a rushed close in October.

Opening — cover off and cleaned
Cover pumped down, removed, cleaned, dried and folded away rather than dumped in a heap behind the shed.
Opening — system reassembled
Plugs out, returns and skimmers reinstalled, equipment reassembled, system primed and pressure-tested for leaks.
Opening — startup chemistry
Full test panel, shock and balance, and the plan for getting the water clear if it has wintered badly.
Closing — water blown down
Every line blown clear and plugged, so nothing is left holding water when it freezes.
Closing — equipment protected
Pump, filter and heater drained. This is where winter damage actually happens, and it is where the time goes.
Closing — winterized and covered
Winter chemicals dosed for the layup, and the cover on and secured for the season.

Book ahead of the rush
Spring and fall are the two weeks everyone in Kelowna wants at once. Booking early gets you the date you want.
A full half-day on site
Openings and closings are not a 45-minute job if they are done properly. Every line, every plug, every piece of equipment.
A report and a heads-up
You get photos and a note of anything that needs attention before next season, while there is still time to deal with it.
Common questions
When should I open my pool in Kelowna?
Usually early-to-mid May. Opening once daytime temperatures are consistently warm keeps algae from getting a head start, but leaving the cover on too long into the warm weather causes exactly that.
When should I close it?
Late September into October, once water temperature is consistently below about 15°C. Closing too early while the water is still warm invites an algae bloom under the cover that you will meet again in spring.
Can I book an opening and closing together?
Yes, and most clients do. Booking both means the fall close is done by the person who has to open it again — which is a real incentive to do it properly.
What happens if the pool was closed badly last year?
I will tell you what I find at the opening, with photographs. Freeze damage to a pump or heater is common and worth catching in May rather than in July.
